Hello, my name is Jolie! I'm from Mandeville, Louisiana, and I'm a Biomedical Sciences major. Starting here at South has been so much fun. When I came to visit campus last fall, I immediately fell in love with South's campus atmosphere. South's community of students, professors, and faculty have all been so welcoming and helpful. Outside of class, I have been able to attend so many fun events, including football games, fitness classes, club meetings, and service opportunities.
From the first day on campus, I have met people who care about their education and helping me grow in my own. I am glad I chose South not only as my university but as somewhere I can call home! Go Jags!

Just this past fall, I joined the Jag family! Since then, I've had learned so much about myself and about what I have studied here at USA. Being a freshman and moving away from home, I learned how to be independent. Throughout the year, I have worked on better managing my time to do all of the fun things South offers while staying on top of my school work. When I had bad days, I learned how to pick myself up and keep going, like all of us jags do. Most of all, I learned that South Alabama's Jaguar Family really is a family. The people that I met here welcomed me, and I have made so many lasting connections and friendships here. South Alabama has definitely become a home for me and has given me so many new friends! I'm so excited to continue to grow as a Jag and learn more with each year that I am here at South. I hope each of you enjoy your time here, and go Jags!

5 Tips Before Coming to South Alabama

Hey, future Jags! Here are my 5 tips for preparing to come to South Alabama: 1. Register for orientation: As soon as you get accepted to South, sign up for an orientation session that works for you! We have many summer sessions to choose from, and you can register on our website at https://www.southalabama.edu/departments/orientation/ . Attending orientation will help you become more familiar with campus and some new students before officially becoming a Jag in the fall! 2. Sign up for housing: Apply to housing to secure your spot on campus at South Alabama! Living on campus is close to everything and helps you make connections. Once you're admitted, I would recommend signing up for housing at https://www.southalabama.edu/departments/housing/ . There are many options of residence halls to choose from, and we even have a roommate matching system. 3. It's Spring in Mobile!

      It's springtime here in Mobile! As the end of the semester draws near, it always cheers me up to walk outside into some nice, spring weather. It's even better that there are plenty of places to have fun in the sun near South's campus! There are many beaches not too far from and some pretty parks and outdoor spaces near USA.       One of my favorite places is Langan Park. It is super close to campus and is perfect for biking, eno-ing, jogging, picnic-ing, and more! I like to go here with friends to take my mind off of school and stress and to focus on enjoying Mobile's nice weather and outdoor space in the spring.  Even if you have to do some school work, it is an awesome space to get some fresh air and experience springtime while doing so. I think that it is a great place to relax and unwind as spring semester begins to come to a close. Happy Spring!!
